Rumford is a paper mill town, and most things still happen around the mill and for it. A daily train comes up from Riley's in Jay to service the mill and then returns to Riley's.
Rumford still has a wood frame round house on Veterans Street at mpr 45.3 coordinates 44°32'51.7"N 70°32'09.1"W that still has a turntable. There is also a nine track storage yard.
